UniAbuja Council Chair assures CONUA of collaboration

Chairman, Governing Council, University of Abuja, Air Vice Marshal Saddiq Ismaila Kaita (rtd), has assured the Congress of University Academics (CONUA), UniAbuja Chapter, of the council’s collaboration in moving the Institution forward.
Kaita gave the assurance when a delegation of the union, led by Professor Issa Abdulraheem, paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the permanent site of the university, on Monday, October 21, 2024.

He expressed delight that one of the core values of the Union is engagement rather than confrontation to resolve industrial disputes, stressing that differences would be minimised through engagement between management and unions.
While noting that there was no way a party could achieve 100 per cent expectations, the Chairman said through dialogue, differences could be resolved. He harped on the need for parties to imbibe the spirit of compromise in resolving industrial disputes. He assured CONUA-UniAbuja Chapter, of his readiness to engage with its members and take them as partners in progress.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Secretary of the Union, Professor Issa Abdulraheem, had said the essence of the visit was to formally congratulate the Council Chairman on his appointment, just as he commended him for extending hands of fellowship to CONUA shortly after his assumption of office.
While highlighting the core values of the Union, Professor Abdulraheem noted that CONUA believed so much in engagement in the pursuit of its demands.
He, therefore, urged the Council Chairman to continue to accord due recognition to the Union in all statutory engagements concerning the welfare of its members and the overall development of the University.
Other members of the delegation include Dr Kamaldin Abdulsalam Babatunde, Comrades Yusuf Suleiman and Dayo Ogunsola. (CONUA), UniAbuja Chapter, of the Council’s collaboration in moving the Institution forward.
