The people of Plateau State converge in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, on Monday morning to start a peaceful demonstration in response to the ongoing killings of indigenous residents by gunmen believed to be Fulani militants.

The protest, spearheaded by Christian leaders including Rev. Polycarp Lubo, the state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, began at the Fawvwei Junction community road, resulting in significant traffic congestion and leaving commuters stranded.

This ongoing protest follows a worrying spike in violent attacks across various communities, with reports indicating that over 100 individuals have been killed in Bokkos and Bassa LGAs in the past few days.

“We are not happy over the continuous attacks and killings by gunmen in our communities. That’s why we have come out again to protest these happenings,” stated Gyang Dalyop, one of the participants in the demonstration.

The protesters are calling on the federal government to take action before the situation escalates further.
