A special tribute to the late Awujale of blessed memory Part 1. By Prince Dr Wumi Akintide

A special tribute to the late Awujale of blessed memory Part 1.

Abeni Aso-Oke

We all have to know the day would come and it has surely come upon us today like a flash in the pan or a candle in the Wind for the beloved and one of the most charismatic, handsome and the most consequential Awujales of Ijebu Land who had ascended the throne at the young age of 26 and had broken the record of longevity on the throne set by my own grandfather Kabiyesi Adimula Deji Afunbiowo Adesida the 41st Deji out of 47 who had ascended the throne at 64 after two consecutive attempts in 1882 and then again in 1890 before getting the nod of Akure Kingmakers in 1897, but had ruled for 60 consecutive years thereby becoming the longest reigning Deji of Akure of all times who had lived for a total of 124 years in the Land of the Living thereby beating the Awujale who had survived for 91 years in that context.

I plan to add Parts 2 and 3 as a permanent tribute to the legacies of Oba Dr. Sikiru Kayode Adetona Ogbagba the Second who was handpicked as the new Awujale as a final year Accounting Student in the UK at the young age of 26.

Eternal rest grant the Kabiyesi in Alujanah in the name of Allah .

“Allahu Aqbar Wa leikum Salam” to His Imperial Majesty till we meet to part no more.

“Oba Sikiru ti d’araba , o ti d’Osupa la arin awon Oba Nla n’Ile Kaaro O ji ire bi ati
