Two brilliant daughters of Yobe State, Nafisa Abdallah (17) and Rukayya Muhammad Fema (15), have done Nigeria proud, conquering the world stage in English Language Skills and Debate at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London, United Kingdom.
In recognition of their outstanding performance, Yobe State Governor, Hon. (Dr) Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, has approved a grand reception in their honour.
The duo, students of Nigerian Tulip International College, represented Nigeria at the prestigious global competition, emerging tops out of over 20,000 participants drawn from 69 countries.
According to a statement signed by the Director General, Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, Mamman Mohammed, Nafisa won the overall prize in English Language Skills, while Rukayya emerged best in the global debate contest.
Both students are among the 890 beneficiaries of the Governor’s full scholarship scheme currently enrolled at the college.
Describing their victory as a source of pride, Governor Buni hailed the feat as “a great honour to the state and the nation at large.”
“These are great feats that make us proud and justify the government’s investment in the education sector,” the governor said.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to making education accessible and affordable for every child in the state, while appealing to parents to support the ongoing reforms.
“Government has reconstructed schools destroyed by the protracted insurgency, provided furniture, books, laboratory equipment, and employed more qualified teachers to improve the quality of education in the state. It is still a work in progress,” Buni stated.
At present, over 40,000 students from Yobe are on government scholarships, pursuing various academic programmes in tertiary institutions across Nigeria and abroad.
It will be recalled that just a few months ago, the state celebrated the graduation of 167 scholarship beneficiaries who completed studies in medical sciences, computer science, and engineering from universities in India.
