Worried by a fatal accident that claimed several lives in July, residents of the Tipper Garage community in Dutse, Abuja, have announced plans for a prayer and fasting exercise.

The incident at the busy Tipper Garage junction has once again drawn attention to persistent road safety concerns affecting haulage operators and the wider community.

In response to the tragedy, residents have resolved to come together for a spiritual drive, seeking divine protection and safety on the roads.

The programme, according to community leaders, is intended to promote peace, protection, and mindfulness among drivers and commuters navigating the perilous routes linked with tipper operations.

For Christians, prayer and fasting remain significant acts of faith, serving as a way of connecting with God and drawing strength during difficult times.

The Tipper Garage junction in Dutse has in recent years witnessed a series of deadly accidents, blamed on poor road design, lack of effective traffic control, and mechanical failures such as brake malfunctions among heavy-duty trucks.

Frustrated residents and eyewitnesses have repeatedly called on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) administration to take urgent steps to address these hazards and forestall further loss of lives.
