Ondo State is set to witness a game-changing leap in animal husbandry as retired Army officer, Col. F. S. Saka Rtd, teams up with foreign partners to launch a large-scale agricultural venture.

Through his company, Biotech International Limited, the initiative has already secured expansive farmlands in Ondo North Senatorial District for the cultivation of specialised grasses, including napier and to power the commercial production of high-quality cattle feeds.

In addition to feed cultivation, the company has secured further land for the construction of large animal pens and houses dedicated to beef and milk production.

According to plans, the first line of cattle feeds is expected to roll out before the end of the year.

As part of on-the-spot assessments, a delegation from the Ondo State Ministry of Agriculture, led by the Commissioner for Agriculture, the Permanent Secretary, ministry staff, and the Chairman/CEO of Biotech Merryfoods International Limited, recently visited Akunu Integrated Farm.

The visit centred on fact-finding and exploring the potential of super napier and juncao grasses for large-scale feed production.

The company’s primary objective is to introduce and entrench modern cattle ranching in Nigeria as a sustainable solution to the recurring farmer-herder crisis in the country.

Beyond ranching, Biotech Merryfoods International Limited has also unveiled ambitious plans to establish a cattle market, greenhouse facilities, a radio station, and a farm settlement.

These projects are expected to create significant employment opportunities for youths in Ondo State while strengthening the state’s agricultural value chain.
