38 Eruku worshippers regains freedom as Gov. AbdulRazaq hails Tinubu’s swift action
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON), has confirmed the safe release of 38 worshippers abducted during the attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area.
The victims were freed on Sunday following sustained rescue efforts coordinated by security agencies and government representatives.
This was contained in a statement issued on November 23, 2025, by Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
Governor AbdulRazaq praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for what he described as a decisive, hands-on intervention that made the rescue possible.
He noted that the President personally supervised the operations, demonstrating unwavering commitment to national security.
In a show of priority, President Tinubu was said to have cancelled his planned trip to the G20 Meeting in South Africa to address the security breaches in Kwara and Kebbi States.
He also ordered reinforced security deployments to Kwara, a directive the Governor said greatly boosted ongoing rescue efforts.
The Governor extended appreciation to the Office of the National Security Adviser; the Department of State Services (DSS); the Nigerian Army; the Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA); and the Nigeria Police Force, which deployed four additional tactical teams to the state on the President’s orders.
He further commended security personnel, religious bodies, thought leaders, and citizens of Kwara State for their prayers, cooperation, and goodwill throughout the ordeal.
