Armed Forces Day: Ise/Orun LG Chair, Bankole, praises Soldiers’ sacrifice, calls for unity

The Executive Chairman of Ise/Orun Local Government, Hon. Ayodele Samson Bamikole, has paid glowing tribute to officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces during the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day held in the area.
Hon. Bamikole lauded the bravery and sacrifice of the nation’s soldiers, while acknowledging the deep pain borne by families who lost loved ones in the line of duty.

He urged citizens to embrace peace, unity and mutual understanding as lasting pillars of national development.
The Chairman also praised the resilience of bereaved families, noting that their courage and sacrifice did not end on the battlefield.
He further commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for what he described as remarkable developmental strides across the state, highlighting achievements in infrastructure, education and social welfare.
While soliciting continued support for Governor Oyebanji ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial election, Hon. Bamikole equally expressed appreciation to security agencies for their contributions to peace and stability in Ise/Orun Local Government.
“Your tolerance, modesty and discipline gladden my heart,” he said.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Corps Major Asolo Modupe Ojo, expressed gratitude to the council chairman for financially supporting the programme.
He appealed for the provision of a befitting office for the Legion in Ise/Orun and commended traditional rulers, security agencies and community stakeholders for their sustained efforts in promoting peace and stability in the area.
