BBC hosts Emir of Argungu as famous fishing festival begins Feb. 11

The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammed Mera, on Tuesday visited the BBC Hausa Service office in Abuja, where he shed more light on the history, preparations and significance of the Argungu Fishing and International Festival.
The four-day festival is scheduled to hold from February 11 to 14 this year.

Speaking during the visit, the Emir drew on his famed oratory and depth of knowledge to trace the origins of the festival and highlight its relevance and impact since its inception in 1934.
He was warmly received by BBC Hausa Service staff on duty, led by the Unit Head, Haruna Tangaza.
The Emir was accompanied by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK; the Director-General of the Main Organising Committee, Alhaji Safiyanu Garba Bena; the Kundudan Kabi, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Kwaido; and the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Argungu.
The interview is expected to be aired in the coming days.
