The serene Kusa community in Kogi Local Government Area of Kogi State came alive over the weekend with an unprecedented influx of dignitaries from all walks of life, as prominent politicians, community leaders, and vibrant youth groups converged in large numbers to witness the colourful conferment of traditional titles on illustrious sons and daughters who have made invaluable contributions to the development and progress of the area.
The epoch-making event, which drew a massive crowd and exuded the rich cultural heritage of the Kusa Chiefdom, reached its high point with the honouring of Barr. Muhammed Tanko Musa Osuku, the Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Civil Service Commission, who was bestowed with the prestigious title of Dan-Masani Kusa under the auspices of His Royal Highness, Mallam Ibrahim Umar Muhammed, the revered Chief of Kusa.
Adding regal splendour and inter-community solidarity to the well-attended ceremony were high-powered delegations of traditional rulers from Toto Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and various parts of Kogi State, alongside the leadership of the Ayikwu Egbira cultural group, whose presence lent an air of pomp and pageantry to the proceedings that will be remembered for years to come in the annals of Kusa’s history.
In his appreciation speech shortly after receiving the exalted chieftaincy title of Dan-Masani Kusa, Barr. Tanko expressed profound gratitude to the Kusa community for the honour extended not only to him but also to 21 other deserving personalities, describing the recognition as yet another clarion call to rededicated service to humanity, much like the array of similar titles he has been privileged to receive both within Kogi State and beyond its borders.
He commended His Royal Highness, Mallam Ibrahim Umar Muhammed, for his discerning wisdom in selecting the finest individuals for these esteemed roles, assuring the monarch and the entire chiefdom that the recipients would never give him cause to regret the gesture, as they remain committed to advancing the welfare and unity of Kusa, Kogi LG and State at large.
Barr. Tanko arrived at the event in grand style, accompanied by a formidable entourage that included various chiefs from Toto Local Government in Nasarawa State, representatives from the FCT and Kogi State, the leadership of Ayikwu Egbira, the renowned female politician from Igu Koton-Karfe, Hajiya Maimunat Iyami, as well as his immediate family members, close associates, enthusiastic youth groups, and women organisations drawn from across Kogi Local Government Area, all of whom joined in the jubilation that marked the successful conclusion of what has been described as one of the most impactful traditional investitures in recent times.
The traditional rulers who accompanied Barr. Tanko to the event included: HRH Abubakar Aguye (Ohinoyi of Idere, Toto LGA, Nasarawa State); HRH Suleiman Usman Ozaki Oduh (Ohinoyi of Ozono, Toto LGA, Nasarawa State); HRH Abubakar Y. Hussaini Taru (Ohinoyi of Ahinza, FCT Abuja); HRH Ali B. Ibrahim (Ohinoyi of Abaza and Ohikura Odumi Abaza, Toto LGA, Nasarawa State); HRH Abdulkarim O. Musa (Ohinoyi of Enyzi Nyiwo, Toto LGA, Nasarawa State); and Mallam Muhammed Kabido, Chief Imam of Enyezi, among other hosts.
The delegation also accompanied Barr. Tanko to the Osuku community, his ancestral home, where they received a warm reception from the Osuku people.

Idrees Aliyu Maikudi, the dedicated member representing Kogi/Koton-Karfe in the Kogi State House of Assembly, whose unwavering commitment to grassroots development and legislative advocacy has earned him widespread acclaim; alongside Engr. Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu, the dynamic Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, renowned for his visionary leadership in harnessing the state’s mineral wealth to drive economic growth and sustainable resource management; and a host of other notable dignitaries, including community leaders, technocrats, and public servants whose exemplary contributions to nation-building were duly recognized amid resounding applause, traditional displays, and an atmosphere charged with celebration and unity.
