“Tertiary Institutions Complain about Senate Committee on Procurement Over Alleged ‘Illegal’ Oversight of TETFund Projects”
The management of Edo State Polytechnic Usen, Edo State, Nigeria has dissociated itself from a publication by EBONY HERALD INTERNATIONAL titled “Tertiary Institutions Complain about Senate Committee on Procurement Over Alleged ‘Illegal’ Oversight of TETFund Projects.”
This was contained in a rejoinder statement signed by the institution’s management on Monday in Edo State.
The School Management stated clearly that the allegations contained in the said publication do not reflect our experience with the Senate Committee on Public Procurement.
The statement reads: “Our attention has been drawn to a publication by EBONY HERALD INTERNATIONAL titled “Tertiary Institutions Complain about Senate Committee on Procurement Over Alleged ‘Illegal’ Oversight of TETFund Projects.”
“The Management of Edo State Polytechnic, Usen wishes to clearly and unequivocally state that the allegations contained in the said publication do not reflect our experience with the Senate Committee on Public Procurement.
“At no time has the Committee, its Chairman, Clerk, consultants, or any representative thereof demanded or requested any money from our institution in the course of their oversight functions.
“Edo State Polytechnic, Usen has always responded appropriately and professionally to invitations and requests from the Senate Committee on Public Procurement regarding procurement processes, including those relating to TETFund interventions.
“Our institution has consistently provided required documentation and clarifications in line with due process, transparency, and the provisions of the Public Procurement Act.
“We recognize and respect the constitutional oversight responsibilities of the National Assembly and have always cooperated fully in matters relating to procurement and project implementation. Our engagements with the Committee have been conducted in a transparent, orderly, and mutually respectful manner.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Edo State Polytechnic, Usen has not been subjected to any form of financial demand, harassment, or improper conduct in the course of legislative oversight.
“The Management therefore dissociates the Polytechnic from the allegations reported and reaffirms its commitment to accountability, due process, and strict adherence to procurement regulations in all its operations”.
However, EBONY HERALD INTERNATIONAL did not in anyway mention Edo State Polytechnic Usen, Edo State in the said publication.
