Legacy of Love: Chief Egirani, Bayelsa Matriarch, Buried with Honors at 91

The remains of late Royal Highness Chief (Mrs) Violet Egirani were laid to rest on 15th March, 2026 at her country home, Ayama Community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

Chief Egirani, age 91, was the mother of Dr. (Mrs) Amaba Ogbuku, wife of the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Chief Sam Ogbuku.

The burial was well attended by families, friends and well-wishers who gathered to pay their respects, shared tributes and offered prayers to the late matriarch’s family.

Speaking to newsmen, mama’s daughter, Dr Mrs Amaba Ogbuku, said her mum lived a life worthy of emulation, and will be greatly missed for her extraordinary love and generosity, especially to those who weren’t even family.

She urged everyone to imbibe the spirit of reaching out to one another, no matter how small, as it’s a hallmark of true humanity and love, stressing that her legacy of kindness and generosity should inspire everyone to spread love and care wherever they go.

The MD’s wife, noted that with mortality rates these days, living up to 91 is a blessing. Hence, they’re celebrating their mum’s life, legacy, and the impact she had on others was a testament to a life well-lived.

Her words “Already for one to be 91 before passing away is truly for us to just say father thank you lord God almighty, what is so glorious to us is her love, her doors were always open, she welcome all.
She’s one woman that’s very loving, in fact some of the things I have in my life today was due to her tutelage , I will miss her so much, we are all here on earth to live for a while. I am a product of her seeing me you have seen her, I can’t count her legacy.
