The Nigerian Army, with support from the Nigerian Air Force, has successfully rescued Mrs Amina Abubakar, wife of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar and former Director Defence Information.

Mrs Abubakar was abducted by bandits alongside her husband a few weeks ago.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Director Defence Information Major General Samaila Uba in Abuja.
The statement explained that the rescue followed intensified search-and-rescue operations carried out by troops of Operation FASAN YAMMA.
Military authorities said sustained offensive actions and pressure on the criminal elements led troops to Tunga Village, where contact was made with the bandits.
According to the statement “the bandits shot Mrs Abubakar during the encounter before abandoning her and fleeing as troops advanced on their location.
“The successful operation resulted in her recovery from captivity.
“Following her rescue, Mrs Abubakar was immediately evacuated to a military hospital for treatment”.
The statement from the authorities say she is responding well to medical care and continues to receive the attention required for her recovery.
