Information Minister Calls For Unity In Nigeria’s Print Industry, Pledges FG Support For Sectoral Growth

The Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has called on stakeholders in Nigeria’s printing industry to prioritize unity, reconciliation, and collaboration to drive sustainable growth and enhance the sector’s global competitiveness.
Speaking at the Nigeria Print Industry Stakeholders’ Summit 2026, themed _“From Resolution to Renaissance”, held on Tuesday at the NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja, the Minister described the recent settlement of the leadership crisis within the Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria, CIPPON, as a pivotal moment to reposition the profession.
“History has given you an opportunity to reposition this industry. Please seize it, work together, and let everyone support the leadership so that collectively you can move the profession forward,” Idris stated.
The Minister noted that one of his first assignments on assumption of office was resolving the prolonged dispute within CIPPON. He said his intervention was guided by the belief that dialogue and cooperation would yield greater results for the industry than protracted litigation.
Highlighting the industry’s economic significance and employment potential, Idris said a united front would make the sector more attractive for government support and policy interventions. He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to partnering with relevant institutions to strengthen professional standards, improve the operating environment, and expand the industry’s contribution to national development.
He further urged CIPPON’s leadership to adopt an inclusive approach that accommodates all stakeholders, regardless of past differences, to ensure lasting peace and a stronger legacy for future generations.
The Minister also charged practitioners to embrace technological innovation to remain competitive in a rapidly digitizing global economy.
In his remarks, the President and Chairman of CIPPON’s Governing Council, Mr. Koko T. Clement, said the Institute had made notable progress since the inauguration of the current Council in December 2025.
He cited ongoing engagements with government institutions to enhance professional standards, strengthen regulation, and promote policies that support industry growth.
“Everything we do is for the growth of this Institute, for the benefit of every printer, every packaging professional, and every Nigerian who depends on this industry,” Clement said, urging stakeholders to uphold peace and mutual understanding.
The summit was attended by CIPPON’s Registrar, Mallam Abubakar Ndagi; CEO of KA2 Press Limited, Engr. Michael Akinola; Managing Director of KA2 Press Limited, Mr. Ademola Kasumu; senior officials of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation; and other key players in the printing and packaging sector.
