Bayelsa NUJ Visits Channels TV’s Anietie Samuel Over Father’s Death.

The Bayelsa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, on Thursday, July 16, 2026, paid a condolence visit to Channels Television cameraman, Comrade Anietie Samuel, following the passing of his father.

The delegation was received at the family house in Okutukutu, Yenagoa, by Comrade Samuel, his wife, relatives, neighbors, and a close family friend whom he fondly calls “father.”

Chairman of the Council, Comrade Tonye Yemoleigha, who led the visit, described the loss as painful but part of life’s cycle. He urged the family to find comfort in God and in the good life the deceased lived.

“We are not here to celebrate, but to mourn with you. Anyone who has lost a father understands the pain,” Yemoleigha said.

“Death is inevitable. What matters now is the legacy he left behind. We pray you find strength.”

He noted that losing a parent goes beyond finances, and assured Samuel of the Council’s solidarity during the burial period.

“In the NUJ, we stand with our own in times of grief. The economy is tough, but we will be there for you. This is about family and emotional support,” he stated.

The Chairman also encouraged Samuel and his siblings to keep the values their father taught them.
“Let your father’s memory guide you. If we honor our parents well, our children will honor us too,” he added.

Financial Secretary of the Council, Comrade Theophilus Agidee, described Samuel as a caring colleague who is always ready to help others.

“I have known Anietie for over 15 years. He talks about his father a lot. They shared a very close bond,” Agidee said.
“We are here because that’s what family does — we show up for each other.”

In his response, an emotional Anietie Samuel appreciated the NUJ and other sympathizers.

“My dad was the type that would call just to hear your voice, even when you had nothing to give. He taught me most of the life lessons I know,” he said.

He recounted his father’s illness and eventual passing, and disclosed that burial plans are ongoing. The late patriarch will be laid to rest in his hometown in Akwa Ibom State. The final date will be announced later.

The NUJ team offered prayers for the repose of the deceased and for God’s strength for the bereaved family.
