INEC Begins PVC Distribution in Osun Ahead of Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to eligible voters in Osun State will commence on July 22 ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

In a statement issued by the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, Oluwatoyin Babalola, the commission said the exercise is targeted at voters who registered during the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, as well as those who applied for transfer of registration, replacement of lost or damaged PVCs, and updates of voter records.

According to the commission, PVCs will be distributed at the state’s 332 Registration Areas from July 22 to July 28 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily, including weekends.

The statement added that the exercise would subsequently move to INEC Local Government Area offices from July 29 to August 7, with collection continuing within the same hours.

Babalola urged eligible voters to take advantage of the exercise and collect their PVCs before the deadline, stressing that the card remains the only valid means of accreditation for voting on election day.

“PVC collection is strictly personal. Collection by proxy is not allowed and constitutes an offence under the law,” the commissioner warned.

INEC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, inclusive and transparent governorship election in Osun State and called on voters to participate fully in the electoral process.
