The Akenneyin Royal Dynasty of Mahin Land has announced the death of its revered patriarch, Pastor Oyekan Arije, who passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at the age of 87.
The death of Pastor Arije, the respected Olori-Ebi of the Majuwa Ruling House, has thrown the Akenneyin Royal Dynasty and the wider Mahin community into mourning, with tributes pouring in for a man remembered for his courage, principled leadership and lifelong commitment to the service of humanity.
Beyond his role as a pastor, elder and respected royal family head, Baba Arije was widely regarded as a great unionist and dogged human-rights activist, whose life was defined by his determination to stand for justice, defend the dignity of the oppressed and speak up for what he believed was right.
Throughout his lifetime, he demonstrated an uncommon passion for the welfare of the people, combining his deep Christian faith with a strong sense of social responsibility.
His commitment to fairness, justice and the common good earned him the respect of those who encountered him, while his courage in championing the rights and interests of others remained one of the defining features of his legacy.
As Olori-Ebi of the Majuwa Ruling House, Pastor Arije also played a significant role in promoting peace, unity and understanding within the ruling house and the broader Akenneyin Royal Dynasty.
His counsel was valued, particularly in moments requiring wisdom, restraint and reconciliation.
A man of faith and conviction, he devoted his later years to nurturing younger generations, strengthening family bonds and upholding the values of integrity, honesty, service and respect for tradition.
The Akenneyin Royal Dynasty described his death as a profound loss to Mahin Land, saying his legacy of faith, courage, justice, service and commitment to his people would remain a source of inspiration to generations yet unborn.
“His death is a great loss to Mahin Land. His legacy of integrity, spirituality and commitment to the values of our tradition will be greatly missed,” the family said.
The family prayed that Almighty God would grant the Majuwa Ruling House, the Akenneyin Royal Dynasty and the entire family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Burial arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.
