
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Abia State Command, has officially acknowledged the apprehension and custody of Bishop Timothy Otu, the General Overseer of Agape Evangelical Ministry.

The demise of a female Evangelist associated with a Pentecostal church in Aba is suspected to have occurred during intimate relations with General Overseer and Bishop, whose church is situated in Aba, Abia state.

In a statement issued by Maureen Chinaka, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Abia State Police, it was confirmed that the deceased Evangelist was identified as Happiness Echieze, a mother of five children.
The incident took place at a guest house situated in Ovom Village, Obingwa local government area of the state.
Chinaka revealed that the accused individual has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inquiry into the incident. Additionally, the deceased’s body has been taken to a morgue at a missionary hospital near the Ogbor Hill area of Aba.

According to the police’s account of the event, Chinaka detailed, “On August 13, 2023, at approximately 9:30 AM, Mr. Godwin Akpan reported to the Isiala Ngwa Police Division about an incident. He reported that on the evening of August 12, 2023, around 9:25 PM, a clergyman named Timothy Otu, associated with Agape Evangelical Ministry at Obikabia Junction in Obingwa LGA, had checked into the guest house with a woman named Happiness Echieze from Isiala Ngwa LGA, Abia State. The deceased, Happiness Echieze, was 43 years old.”
“According to Mr. Akpan, around 12:00 AM on the same date, he entered the hotel room of the aforementioned clergyman and discovered the lifeless body of Happiness Echieze. She was found unclothed, and a white substance was emanating from her mouth and nose.”
