It was a sad and Sorrowful moment for the opposition political Parties in Anyingba the Commercial hub of the Kogi east Senatorial district, Dekina local Government areas of Kogi State, as Supporters of the ruling All progressives Congress, APC in Anyingba unleashed violence on members of the Opposition Parties particularly, the Social Democratic Party, SDP after the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC declared her the Winner of the November 11,2023 Governorship election in the State.
It was Gathered that, Political thugs among the ruling Party thronged the streets of the town in a jubilant mood, Searching for members of opposition, and the unlucky one’s became victim of the wrath of the rampaging thugs. According to a source who doesn’t want his name mentioned said, some persons were brutalized, maimed and some lucky ones amongst them escaped with various degree of injuries.
Investigation by our Correspondent also revealed that, traders and those that are in to one Bussiness or the other were not left out of the Savagery and beastial display of this agents of violence, as their Shops were burnt, there houses were Seriously damaged and Some were set ablaze, some POS Agents also got their share of this barbarity.
In the face of this Cruelty and unprovoked attacks on this innocent Nigerians, whose offense was just the discharge of their Civic responsibility and expression of their fundamental human rights of freedom of association, the Nigeria Police has not effected any arrest till this moment of filling this report, as the perpetrators were seen roaming the streets of the town freely, a development that has made many individuals to perceived the attacks as Government Sponsored.
The Situation Could not have been different in Ejule a town in Of local Government area of Kogi State if not for the presence of the Military Personnel deployed to the area for the November 11, election who were yet to vacate the town as some APC thugs were seen and heard threatening to attack Opposition Parties Supporters, a Source told our Correspondent.
One Mallam Shaibu Yahaya from Anyingba who spoke to our Correspondent lamented that the post election violence that led to the death of the Kogi State Women leader was about to happen again if the activities of this irate tugs is not Checked, as they were becoming more emboldened to unleash terror on Opposition Parties Supporters, he further advice that Military Personnel should be redeployed to Anyingba to help Curtail the excesses of this agents of Violence.
