Maya Angelou knew why a caged Bird sings, Wumi Akintide knows why Crime and Corruption are so rampant and have become an incurable Cancer in Nigeria.

Abeni Aso-Oke

The first is bad leadership and bad followership in Nigeria

The second is failure of Law Enforcement

The third is repeating the same behavior, time and again, but expecting a different result.

Abeni Aso-Oke

The same behavior has been diagnosed by Sigmund Freud the World’s greatest Austrian Psychiatrist as insanity suggesting that most of our leaders and followership suffer from insanity arguably more than many other nationalities in the World

The last and not the least is because Nigeria has the highest number of fake And fraudulent “Your Excellencies” “Your Imperial Majesties” “Your Royal Highnesses” in the world and we also have the highest number of “Kabiyesi” meaning in English that those Nigerians in our midst can breach or break the Law or breach the Constitution any time they want and nobody can question their authority or have audacity to even question their right to do that or to even hold them accountable talk less of punishing them for their crimes

All of the above or part thereof are the same reason why America the so-called Bastion of Democracy and the Leader of the Free World has now become a laughing stock and the most polarized and the most fragile and unstable Democracy in the World today due to the 4 years of the Locust of arguably the worst American President who has proved himself to be worse than Adolf Hitler on steroids.

The great Presidential Poet Maya Angelou of the United States knew why the Caged Bird Sings, while Dr. Wumi Akintide of Nigeria knows why Nigeria is going down the drain as we speak because our leadership and Citizenry always deceive ourselves too much and there is no truth in the great majority of us, sad to say, and if the truth be told.

Our Military Establishment by Decree in 1999 had plagiarized the American Constitution minus a few provisions in it and we just adopted it wholesale to call it our own from the beginning to the end including the Preamble to the Constitution which starts with the statement “We The People” even when we all know that the Constitution was just the brain child of a few leaders in our Military Establishment.

The Constitution was never debated, reviewed or ratified by the People at any point.

It was done the same way like Regionalism was abrogated In Nigeria by one Professor Nwabueze as Attorney General working in tandem to draft Decree 34 in May 1966 with General Aguiyi Ironsi who simply hijacked the January 15, 1966 Coup by the Majors led by Major Chukwuma Nzeogwu and Major Emmanuel Ifeajuna.

Aguiyi Ironsi simply took over as Head of State after putting the Coup Plotters in detention.

The two of them had done it with little or no consultation at all, not even with the members of his Supreme Military Council. Nigeria got into the she is in today because of Professor Nwabueze and General Aguiyi Ironsi. You can quote me on that and put my name down to it.

So like Maya Angelou, I know why the caged bird sings and I know precisely why things are not working out for Nigeria since the Amalgamation Proclamation of 1914, as envisaged by Lord Lugard and our British Colonial Masters and by our founding fathers comprising of Ogbuefi Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Sardauna Ahmadu Bello and our first Nigerian Prime Minister Alhaji Tafawa Balewa.

Maya Angelou was probably thinking of Nigeria or shall I say more Succinctly about the whole Black Race as “the caged bird”her fertile brain and imagination have brilliantly captured.

I rest my case.
