“Kimpact Development Initiative launches Innovative election AI tool
The public launch of the Naija Elections generative Election AI tool developed by the Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI), supported by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), has taken place
on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the Fraser Suites Hotel in Abuja, Nigeria.
Discussions and practical lead demonstrations on how to use the tools, advice on registration, experience sharing in usage, importance to Nigeria’s populace, and an engaging exploration into the dynamics of election AI were conducted.
This tool is beneficial to Nigeria’s citizenry and the worldwide perspective for easy election monitoring, tracking elected officers’ performance, helping voters make informed decisions, and facilitating information sharing and peaceful elections.
Ezra Okey (Rational and Unboarding), Mercy Abiem (Simplified Component), Abiodun Banjoko (Features), and Osarodion Judith Edosa (Content) from the staff of Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI) handled the unpacking and demonstrations.
Remarks were given by Cynthia Rowe, Development Director of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
The Honourable Minister of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Olatunbosun Tijani, and the Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, also made remarks.
Several Nigerians from civil societies, youth groups, journalists, academicians, government officers, and distinguished guests attended this notable event.
The spoken word was delivered by Onyeka Ajah, Programme Officer at KDI.
The closing remarks were made by Mr. Bukola Idowu, Executive Director of Kimpact Development Initiative.
The event provided valuable information, offering substantial material that helped participants understand the AI tool for election monitoring developed by Kimpact Development Initiative.
It was also revealed, that additional funding is necessary to promote learning and disseminate information at the grassroots level, adding that Journalists and individuals need to popularize its usage.
