Aiyedatiwa pays ₦180m electricity Meter subsidy to ease power access

The Ondo State Government has released a total of ₦180 million as subsidy for electricity meters across the state in a bid to make power more accessible and affordable for residents.

This was made known on Wednesday by the Special Adviser on Power to the Governor, Engr. (Dr.) Johnson Alabi, during a press briefing to mark the 2025 Workers’ Day celebration.

Engr. Alabi lauded Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his commitment to the welfare of citizens and congratulated the workforce on the occasion of Workers’ Day.

In a statement signed by the Press Officer, Office of the Special Adviser on Power to the Governor, Ondo State, Debbie Funmilayo, he described the meter subsidy initiative as a significant step towards addressing power challenges and reducing the financial burden on households.

“This administration is determined to make electricity both steady and affordable,” Alabi stated.

He added that measures are being taken to boost local power generation and distribution in line with existing legal frameworks.

He assured that the government remains focused on long-term solutions that will drive industrial growth and improve the standard of living in Ondo State.

Alabi further disclosed that the announcement is part of broader energy reforms being pursued by the Aiyedatiwa-led administration.
