ANRPM Gets New Executives, Pledges to Eradicate Adulterated Petroleum Product
The Association of Nigeria Refineries Petroleum Marketers (ANRPM) has elected new national executive to steer the canoe of the association for another two years. The election which took place in Abuja on Saturday during the association’s stakeholders’ meeting, had Hon. Iwalewa Olatubosun elected as the new national president of the association.
Expressing his joy during the meeting over the achievement of the association, the BoT Chairman, Hon Usman Bature Ali, said the association since its establishment in 2018 has been able to assist government in a number of ways such as the elimination of oil bunkering in the downstream sector of the industry, fighting against exploitation, fuel adulteration and to checkmate petrol stations that do not have bulk purchase (right to buy and to sell) as well as stopping other sharp business practices.
He explained that the arrival ANRPM as a monitoring association in the oil and gas industry becomes necessary because most of the marketers under different associations are defaulters who buy products from bunkers and some from unrefined sources. He explained that even those who buy from the right source will not discharge it in their various filling stations but wait till when price would go up whereas some do pump adjustment with many other irregularities.
As an association that is out to assist government according to him, ANRPM does the work of an informant by sending signals to the appropriate quarters such as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the DSS whenever any of the problems mentioned above arises so as to put an end to such decadence in the society.
“As an association, we are out to assist government. ANRPM does the work of an informant by forming partnership with Security and Civil Defence Corps and the DSS and send signals to them whenever we discover any problem,” Bature said.
Emphasizing that the effort of the association at stopping illegal bunkering has put an end to illegal burning of lives and property, he expressed his optimism that as Hon. Iwalewa Olatubosun takes over the mantle of leadership of the association, the canoe of the association would definitely be steered to an enviable status because according to him, the new president has been around for a longtime and has enough experience to lead well..
Calling ANRPM “the eyes” of the government while addressing the press after his emergence as the president of the association, Hon. Iwalewa Olatubosun, said there are many illegalities at the downstream sector of oil industry which the association helps to fight because failure to do so now may result to more ugly situation in future.
He therefore admonished members of the association on the need to work together and do everything that will promote the good image of the association and Nigeria. He also promised to use his wealth of experience as a former state and zonal chairman of the association to promote love, peace and unity that will facilitate the growth of the association in every ramification.
Comrade Olatunji Sunday who emerged as the National Secretary of the association and also expressed great concern about the poor regulatory system in Nigeria, noted that ANRPM is committed to the promotion of the image of Nigeria by eradicating the rot in oil and gas industry as well as putting an end to the pain, agony and the various complaint among Nigerians about the system.
Speaking on behalf of the office of the national task force section of the association, Engr. Innocent Oga, told the meeting in a clear term that the task force section in a matter of weeks would be sanitized both at the state and zonal levels to ensure that every officer is responsible and accountable towards the association, particularly in the area of due diligence to the payment of their dues.
Oga, also addressed the meeting on the need to look beyond task force as the only means of generating income for the association such as organization of oil and gas summit on different subjects where different stakeholders and government agencies would be made to participate, even up to international level. He finally urged the leadership of the association to go the way of constant training and capacity building so as to make every member a mouth piece of the organization.
Other executives in attendance are: Nwozuzu Henschel, National Vice President; Amina Yakubu, National Treasurer; Igwe Martin, National P.R.O; Adeolu Ariyo, National Chief Whip and Dr Edison N, Delta State Coordinator.
