The Media and Publicity Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2026 National Convention has announced that the party will hold a world press conference on Thursday this week to unveil its plans and preparations for the upcoming convention.

The disclosure was made on Tuesday by the Co-Chairman of the Committee and the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during the Committee meeting. “As part of what we need to do, a major press conference will be held on Thursday to unveil the expectations of the party to Nigerians,” Idris said.

He called on members of the committee to work together in unity to ensure effective communication and successful delivery of the convention. “It is important that members of the committee realise that a lot of sacrifice is expected from all, in line with the party’s vision for a united and disciplined approach to communicating to Nigerians,” he stated.

The Minister reminded members that while the APC remains Africa’s largest political party, it must continue to uphold strong internal democratic values. “As party members, we must subject ourselves to a significant attribute of our President, who throughout his political career, and particularly in the last three years of his national leadership, has subjected himself to all internal democratic processes,” Idris added.

He noted that the forthcoming convention, scheduled for March 27 to 28, 2026, in Abuja, represents an important milestone for the party as it continues to strengthen its internal structures and democratic processes.

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga; Special Adviser to the President on Public Communication and Orientation, Mr Sunday Dare; Spokesperson of the Senate, Senator Yemi Adaramodu; the Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Honourable Akin Rotimi; the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, Mr Tunde Rahman; Vice Chairman of the Committee, Senator Istifanus Gyang; Assistant Secretary Dr Mary Ikoku; Secretary 1, Dr Abimbola Tooki, and other members of the committee.
