Argungu International Fishing Festival 2026 Committee Commends Gov. Nasir Idris

The Main Committee for 2026 Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival under the chairmanship of the State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, has commended Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu for granting a support to the committee’s initial preparation towards the hosting the event.
Director General of the Festival, Alhaji Sufiyanu Garba Bena made the commendation while briefing newsmen shortly after the committee’s meeting on Monday, in Birnin Kebbi. According to him, the support demonstrated Governor’s commitment towards developing the tourism sector of the state economy.
Sufiyanu Bena said the committee has met and solicited cooperation and assistance from some major stakeholders including the Minister for Arts, Culture and Tourism, Minister for Livestock Development, adding that about eight ministers would be visited soon.
He said with the approval granted by the Governor, renovation work on infra structures in the fishing village shall commence immediately, saying that clearance work at the festival village has already started in earnest.
The Director General informed that the committee has received tremendous response so far with all major stakeholders 100% willing to be part of the festival after series of consultative meetings with major stakeholders have been made in Abuja with a view of making concrete arrangements for the success of the festival.
He used the opportunity to call on working journalists to always project the positive image of the state in its true colour, explaining that even though there were pockets of criminal activities, Kebbi state known for its peace, tranquility and hospitality.
