Bayelsa Killings:Diri calls for calm to avoid reprisal attacks.

-Bans Keke movement from 7PM to 6AM


To avoid further reprisal attacks from the incident that occurred between a commercial Keke rider and his passenger where a Keke man stabbed a community youth to death and was also lynched by angry mob.
The governor of Bayelsa State Senator Douye Diri,has called for calm,urges warring sides to avoid reprisal attack this was as the governor also bans Keke movement from 7pm to 6am
Diri, stated this on Thursday when he met with leaders of Epie Kingdom and Arewa community in the State to resolve the killing at Kpansia, in Yenagoa Local Government Area.



Gov. Diri who described the incident as unfortunate appealed for calm and restoration of peace in the State capital.
He urged the traditional rulers in Epie kingdom and the Arewa leadership to avoid reprisal attacks.
To further ensure peace within this period, the governor has banned commercial tricycle operation within Yenagoa and its environs from 7pm to 6am.
He ordered the arrest and prosecution of any keke operators found with arms.
It would recalled that an hausa Keke commercial rider stabbed a community youth to death over disagreement of 50Naira fare which also lead to the lynching of the Keke man by angry youth.
The community youth who hails from Yenezue-Epie, community Bayelsa State only came to see his wife that just gave birth but unfortunately met his untimely death.
