A Bill For An Act To Establish Federal Vocational And Skill Acquisition College Ilaro, Ogun State To Make Provision For Research, Teaching, Instruction And Training On Vocational And Skill Acquisition And For Related Matters (Hb 1827) has passed for second reading in the House if Representatives.

The bill has been consequently referred to the House Committee on Federal polytechnic and higher technical education for further legislative action.
In his lead debate during Tuesday plenary at the green chamber, the sponsor of the bill Rt. Hon Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade representing Yewa South /Ipokia Federal Constituency of Ogun state said the establishment of Vocational And Skill Acquisition College was necessary recognition of the rapidly evolving global! landscape and to equip Nigerian citizens with skills and knowledge to thrive in the modern workforce.
The Ogun state federal lawmaker noted that when the bills becomes law it will This college will provide affordable, industry-relevant education to young Nigerians, enhancing their employability while also nurturing entrepreneurship.

He added that the establishment of a Federal Vocational and Skills Acquisition College in Ilaro, Ogun State, is a forward-thinking investment that will address both economic and social challenges, Empower Nigerian citizens, and enhance our country’s global competitiveness.
According to him “the establishment of a Vocational and Skills Acquisition College is vital given the current skills shortages hindering our nation’s economic growth and innovation, such an institution will serve as a hub for training a highly skilled workforce capable of meeting the demands of an ever-changing labor market.
“The benefits of this initiative extend beyond individual opportunities and Establishing this college will improve Nigeria’s economic competitiveness, attract investments, and stimulate both growth and development, which are essential to enhancing our global economic standing.
“In an era of rapid technological advancement, the college will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between traditional education and the skills required in fast-evolving sectors like technology and healthcare.
“In addition, by reducing Nigeria’s reliance on skilled labor, this college will cultivate homegrown talent and encourage investment in human capital which will serve individuals of all ages and promote continuous learning, ensuring adaptability in a dynamic world.
“The strategic location of Ilaro, Ogun State, makes it an ideal site for this institution, Its establishment will not only support socio-economic development but will also create employment opportunities and stimulate local economic activities”.
Hon. Abiodun Ishaq Akinlade who is also the chairman of the House Committee on Aviation Technology added that the establishment of this vital institution for the betterment of our nation and its citizens.
