BREAKING: Over 7,000 Forest Guards Graduate, Deploy to Tackle Nigeria’s Security Challenges

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the graduation of over 7,000 newly recruited Forest Guards, drawn from seven frontline states, as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s internal security architecture.

The guards, who completed an intensive three-month training program under the Presidential Forest Guards Initiative, will be deployed immediately to Borno, Sokoto, Yobe, Adamawa, Niger, Kwara, and Kebbi States.

National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, described the initiative as a “decisive step toward restoring state authority and protecting vulnerable communities.”

The Forest Guards are trained in security, environmental conservation, human rights, and tactical fieldcraft, and will work to deny terrorists, bandits, and other criminal groups sanctuary in Nigeria’s forests.

The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Office of the National Security Adviser, Federal Ministry of Environment, and other security agencies, with governors and deputy governors from participating states attending the graduation ceremonies.

Ribadu stated that the deployment is part of the Federal Government’s commitment to securing Nigeria’s territory and protecting its people, and that the initiative will expand nationwide.
