The Lagos State House of Assembly witnessed heightened tension on Monday morning as security operatives took control of the assembly complex, thereby delaying the scheduled plenary session.
Reports indicated that at least 10 police vans manned the assembly gate, while lawmakers were gathered outside the chamber, unable to proceed with legislative activities.
Sources revealed that officials from the Department of State Services (DSS) sealed the office of Speaker Mojisola Meranda, further fueling speculation about the unfolding situation.
Meanwhile, a crowd of onlookers were seen gathered outside the assembly, closely monitoring developments as security personnel, including those attached to the Speaker, maintained a strong presence.
The reasons behind the security takeover remain unclear, but tensions continue to build within the legislative house.
