In a bid to provide shelter and ensure welfare as well as growth and development of motherless and vulnerable children, the Muslim women in Akure are calling on well-meaning individuals, philanthropists, and the general public for support to complete an all-in-one Multipurpose Orphanage and Children Centre in Akure, Ondo State.
The need for the support, according to Iya Sunnah of Akure Muslim Community, Dr. Mrs Munirat Ogunlayi, while speaking to newsmen is to enable the completion of the multipurpose orphanage and children centre for children in need. The idea was initiated in 2019 and construction commenced thereafter. With support from friends and contributions from members of Akure Muslim Community Women, they were able to lay the foundation of the project and raised the project to the current status.

Dr Munirat noted that the project upon completion will be an epic centre to cater, nurture orphans and vulnerable children to become productive members of the society. She added that the centre will provide accommodation for girls and boys, creche/ playground, prayer room, living and dining section, library/ study room, and spaces for recreational activities and vocational skills acquisition.
Dr Munirat confirmed that over 20 million naira has been spent on the project so far through direct labour, and now seeking support from all and sundry to aid completion of the laudable project. Her words: “To complete this laudable project, we are now raising our hands to Allah for help to direct helpers to us towards the completion of the orphanage home”.
Speaking further, the Iya Sunnah of Akureland thanked all their donors and contributors in cash and kind for their support and donations, as these have helped Akure Community Muslim women with the ongoing construction of the befitting multipurpose centre for the development of orphans and vulnerable children to become productive members of the society and prevent them from being vulnerable to various crimes and other ills in the society.
She commended the women for their resilience despite their poor financial status. Dr Ogunlayi is passionately pleading for more and continuous supports, as we still have much to do to get the project completed as can be seen in the pictures. Your contribution would, In shaa Allah (by God’s grace), be another “Sadaqat Jariyah” especially during this holy month of Ramadan and beyond.
According to her, the implementation of the project is currently providing jobs for construction workers hired through direct labour while stressing that upon completion it will also generate means of livelihoods especially for women and men who will be working at the one-stop multi-purpose children development centre.
Please help share the request of Akure Community Muslim Women for support for the project amongst friends, families, and networks, so these women could be supported to complete their dream of having a befitting multipurpose centre to groom and nurture some of the orphans and vulnerable children in our country.
