Encomium as Kayode Ajulo’s Mother marks 90th birthday in grand style
It was a day of pomp, pageantry, and heartfelt tributes on Friday at the International Event Centre, popularly known as The Dome, in Akure, Ondo State, as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kayode Ajulo (SAN), rolled out the drums to celebrate his mother, Princess Chief Christianah Monisola Ajulo, on the occasion of her 90th birthday.
Leading a distinguished array of guests was Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, accompanied by his deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami; the state APC Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin; Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire representing Ondo Central; and the State Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philip.
Also present were the Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Ayedun Odusola; the Deji of Akure, Oba Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo; traditional rulers, senior legal minds, politicians, clerics, and respected members of the community.
The event was a resounding tribute to a woman widely admired for her resilience, deep faith, and commitment to family and community.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, in his goodwill message, congratulated the celebrant and offered prayers for her continued good health and long life, applauding Dr. Ajulo and his siblings for honouring their mother in such a remarkable way.
He noted that mothers play a central role in shaping society, saying: “Their care, guidance, and sacrifices leave lasting legacies in the lives of their children and in the society at large.”
In his keynote address, elder statesman and former Afenifere spokesperson, Chief Sehinde Arogbofa, urged parents to raise their children with godly values and sound morals, while encouraging children to care for their ageing parents.
A visibly emotional Dr. Ajulo delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, describing his mother as “a pillar of wisdom, strength, and compassion,” and thanking all who honoured the celebration.
Beyond speeches, the ceremony featured lively cultural displays, including traditional music, dances, and tributes from friends, associates, and family members who spoke glowingly about the celebrant.
Princess Christianah Ajulo, born on March 14, 1935, in Ifira-Akoko, overcame early hardship, having lost her father young.
She was raised by her mother, Madam Ibironke, a livestock trader who instilled in her a strong work ethic.
Trained as a seamstress, Christianah later became a successful textile trader in Ijebu-Ode and Ibadan, before venturing into book sales with her Ti Oluwa Ni Ile Bookshop, which cemented her status as a respected businesswoman.
Despite her limited formal education, she championed education for her children, ensuring they all attained academic excellence Dr. Ajulo being a notable example.
A devoted Christian, she was a founding member of Egbe Ajihinrere in the Akure Diocese and served as Iya-Ijo at Christ Anglican Church, Ifira-Akoko, actively spreading the gospel within her community.
Married to the late Solomon Ayodele Olusoji Ajulo, she raised successful children and continues to be a source of inspiration beyond her family circle.
As the celebration ended, it was clear that her 90th birthday was more than a personal milestone, it was a celebration of a life of purpose, service, and enduring legacy.
