Esun-Ekiti set for historic Coronation of new monarch


The ancient town of Esun-Ekiti in Ajoni Local Council Development Area of Ekiti State is set to roll out the drums for a landmark event, the coronation and presentation of the Staff of Office to its newly appointed monarch, Oba Olasehinde Bankole Adesesan Ilugbusi, who ascends the throne as Arohunmokinise II.
According to an official invitation released by the Elesun-in-Council, the ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, August 2, 2025, at the Elesun’s Palace, commencing promptly at 10:00 am.
The Elesun-in-Council, alongside the entire citizens of Esun-Ekiti, has extended a warm invitation to guests and dignitaries far and near to witness what promises to be a colourful and culturally rich occasion.

The event will formally mark the installation of Oba Ilugbusi as the new Elesun of Esun-Ekiti.
Oba Olasehinde Ilugbusi, who will be receiving his Staff of Office from the state government during the event, is stepping into a revered role as the traditional ruler of the community, bearing the royal title Arohunmokinise II.
The community’s leaders and planning committee have urged invitees to arrive early, as the programme will begin at the scheduled time.
