Ex-convict nabbed over ₦1m midnight shop breaking in Ikare

 

A young man recently released from prison over a burglary conviction has been rearrested for allegedly breaking into seven shops along Agbaluku–Arigidi Road in Ikare-Akoko, Ondo State.

The suspect was apprehended at about midnight on Monday by soldiers stationed at Semusemu Junction in Ikare-Akoko, following suspicious movements in the area.

Sources said that upon interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to breaking into the shops and carting away goods valued at about ₦1 million.

He reportedly admitted to having been jailed twice in the past over burglary-related offences.

The suspect was subsequently handed over to the Ikare Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Security authorities have reiterated their commitment to tackling criminal activities in the area and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
