Farewell to a Royal Icon: Prince Dr. Adebimpe Ige Ogunleye-Aladejana, First Ondo State PMO Passes On. By Prince Dr. Wumi Akintide

I woke up this morning to find on my phone the breaking News of the passing of Chief Dr. Adebimpe Ige Ogunleye-Aladejana the Bajimo of Akure Omowas, the Head of the Osupa/ Odundun Ruling House of Akure and a legendary Nigerian Gynacologist of repute and the retired PMO of Ondo State.

My heartfelt condolences to his wife and family and the whole Akure Community as we all celebrate his wonderful life as a star among us.
He was very close to me in his life time. He wrote a chapter in my biography of my grandfather, Deji Afunbiowo Adesida titled, “The Lion King and the Cubs”- A Biography of Deji Afunbiowo Adesida the First as the pioneer architect of the golden Century of Akure History from 1897-1997 and Beyond.

“Erin wo. Ajanaku subu Kole dide”
Dr. Ogunleye- Aladejana had worked assiduously with individuals like late Papa Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo and others to fight, tooth and nail for the carving out of the Osupa/ Odundun Ruling House from the only Asodeboyede Ruling House created by a Decree signed into Law by Ondo State Military Governor Sunday Olukoya on December 12, 1991.
Dr. Ogunleye- Aladejana was the Chairman at the first launching of the Book on December 19, 2007 at the Auditorium of the Federal University of Technology, Akure while Senator Bode Olajumoke was the Chief Launcher and Chief now Oba Samuel Oluyemi Falae was the keynote Speaker.
History would be very kind to Dr. Ogunleye- Aladejana, a man of timber and caliber “Dansaki Omo Erin j’Ogun Ola. Afinju Dokita to nde Fila Ilaari. Saaki Ekun”
We all know today will come but it has come a little bit sooner than we have prayed for but we all have to let go because the handsome and charismatic Prince had survived to the ripe old age of more than 90 years and in relatively good health.
Special tribute by:
Dr. Wumi Akintide.
