Kebbi CP issues stern warning on premature political Campaigns and illegal use of Siren

The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani Bello, has issued a strong warning to all political parties against political campaigns prematurely, when the ban on campaigning has not been lifted.
The meeting was presided by Governor Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, who is the Chief Security Officer of the state, Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, and heads of security agencies.
CP Bello emphasized that the period for political campaigns, as mandated by law, has not yet commenced. He added that the police have received reports of violations by some parties, who are organizing large political gatherings in defiance of this regulation.
“The reason for convening this meeting by His Excellency is on the general security in the state; we are also aware of the incident around the GRA and the illegal use of sirens by unauthorized persons, including politicians ” the CP said.
“Some political parties are violating the law, the Government has not lifted the ban on campaigns, because premature politicking is inimical to public peace and order”, he explained.
The Commissioner of Police announced that he would convene a meeting of all political party leaders to formally remind them of the legal provisions governing campaigns and the use of sirens.
He urged all parties to be patient and wait for the official commencement date.
He further warned that any political party found violating these laws would face the full consequences.
CP Bello also reiterated that a previous press statement banning the unauthorized use of sirens remains in effect, and violators would face the full wrath of the law.
‘It was unanimously agreed by all security agencies at the meeting that anyone who flouts the laws on campaigns or the use of sirens will be dealt with in accordance with the law”, the CP narrated.
The CP informed Journalists that the incident at the GRA was under investigation, but no arrest has been made.
