Kebbi State deputy governor, Senator Umar Tafida, OFR, attended the funeral prayer for 15 victims of a tragic attack in Mera Village, Augie local government area, by unknown gunmen, offering condolences and support to the grieving families.

The funeral prayer was also attended by the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Muhammadu Mera,; the Kebbi State commissioner of Police, the officer commanding of the Nigerian Army, the director of State Security Kebbi State, commissioner for Home and Internal Security Affairs,director of Security Kebbi State, the deputy chief of staff, Civil Defense and Vigilante’ commandant, and other government officials.

Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, representing the Kebbi State governor, offered condolences to the grieving families, expressing deep sorrow and commitment to bringing those responsible to justice.

According to the deputy governor, the Kebbi State Government stands with the bereaved and will work closely with security agencies to prevent a reoccurrence of the unfortunate accident.

The Emir of Argungu urged unity and resilience, calling on security agencies to intensify efforts to ensure community safety.

He also encourage the villagers to be more security conscious and alert and ready to defend themselves. “Remember, who so ever died in the process of self-defense is a Jihadist and if you kill an attacker you are a Jihadist, and surely those who died their blood will not go for nothing,” he added.

The funeral prayer concluded with prayers for peace and the souls of the departed, and a shared commitment to strengthen regional security and stability, as the Kebbi State Government reassures citizens of ongoing efforts to protect lives and prevent future tragedies.

In the same vein, the Kebbi State Governor, His Excellency, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has condoled with the people of Mera in Augie local government area of the state over an attack on the community by unknown gunmen.

In a condolence message on Saturday, the governor described the incident as ugly and very unfortunate.

“On behalf of Kebbi State Government, we wish to extend our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the Emir of Argungu, His Royal Highness Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammadu-Mera as well as the people of Mera.

“We pray for the repose souls of the deceased and urge the family to take heart and accept the will of God Almighty in good faith,” he said.

While assuring that the government is doing everything possible with the help of the state security agencies, to put an end to crime and criminalities across the Kebbi.

The governor urged the people to cooperate with the security personnel by supplying  useful information to aid the arrest of the killers.

Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero (Magayakin Kabi), senator representing Kebbi central in the upper chamber, also extended his condolences to the people of Argungu Emirate over the death of fifteen people (15) in a recent attack by some bandits in Mera town of Augie local government.

The Senator said: “It is with a heavy heart that I extend my deepest condolences to the people of Argungu Emirates following the tragic bandit attack on Mera town in Augie local government, which resulted in the lose of 15 precious lives.

“This senseless act of violence has left our community in mourning, and my thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims during this incredibly difficult time.

“As we grapple with the aftermath of this tragedy, I urge our security agencies to intensify their efforts in ensuring the safety and security of our communities. It is imperative that we work together to combat the menace of banditry and restore peace to our region.

“To the people of Argungu Emirates, please know that you are not alone in this sorrow. I stand with you in solidarity, and I am committed to advocating for measures that will enhance the security of our communities and prevent such incidents in the future.”

The Senator prayed for the soul of the departed to find peaceful rest.
