Kebbi Ministries Begin Budget Defense.

The Kebbi State House of Assembly’s Joint Committee on Finance and Appropriation, as well as Budget Monitoring, Planning, and Due Process, has, yesterday, begun receiving budget defenses from various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) for the 2025 fiscal year.

This development is a crucial step towards ensuring that the state’s budget is thorough, effective, and beneficial to its citizens.

Declaring the session open, the Speaker of the House Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru urged the committee to discharge their duties diligently, ensuring that the resources allocated to them have a positive impact on the lives of Kebbi State citizens.

The Speaker represented by Hon Adamu Muhammad Birnin Yauri who is also Chairman committee on budget defense committee’s meticulous examination of the budget proposals is essential in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance in the state.

Among the MDAs that appeared before the committee was the Ministry of Agriculture and it’s agencies, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Ministry of Works, Ministry of Transport and Renewable Energy, Ministry of Water Resources, Ministry of Rural and Community Development, Ministry of Home Affairs And Internal Security, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Local Government Audit, Ministry of Digital Economy, as well as Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The ministry’s budget defense is particularly significant, given the importance of agriculture in Kebbi State’s economy. The committee’s scrutiny of the ministry’s budget proposals will help ensure that the state’s agricultural sector receives adequate funding to drive growth and development.

The Kebbi State Government has proposed a budget of ₦580.32 billion for the 2025 fiscal year, with a focus on driving economic growth and enhancing infrastructure development across the state. The joint committee’s work is critical in ensuring that this budget is implemented effectively, with tangible benefits for the people of Kebbi State.

As the committee continues to receive budget defenses from MDAs, it is essential that they maintain their commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance. By doing so, they will help ensure that the 2025 budget has a positive impact on the lives of Kebbi State citizens, driving growth, development, and prosperity in the state.
