Kebbi Ministry of Animal Health Embarks on Statewide Sensitization Tour

The Kebbi State Ministry of Animal Health, Husbandry, and Fisheries has launched a sensitization tour across local governments to boost revenue.

The team led by honorable commissioner Alhaji Kabiru Usman Alaramma Zuru, visited Argungu local government secretariat to educate stakeholders on fisherman and fish farmer registration.

The commissioner who was represented by the director of Fisheries Nafiu Muhammad Gwade emphasized the importance of licensing for all fish farmers, fishermen, and fishmongers, citing enhanced revenue generation and valuable data collection as benefits of the sensitization .

He said registration is mandatory for participation in the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival; unlicensed participants will face penalties.

Gwade announced fines for offenses: ₦2,000 for fishing without a license, ₦3,000 for catching prohibited fish during closed seasons, and ₦20,000 for using explosive poison.

Also speaking, the Argungu local government chairman,  Hon. Aliyu Sani Gulma, welcomed the initiative and assured support for revenue generation.

In attendance at sensitization were director of Planning Research and Statistics, director of Animals Husbandry, ministry revenue officer and Argungu local government officials among others.
