Kebbi State Assembly speaker died in Cairo

Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Usman Zuru (Lifiddan Zuru), has passed away. He died in the early evening of Monday, 6th April, 2026 while receiving medical treatment in Cairo, Egypt.
According to a statement signed by Murtala Adamu Diri on behalf of the House,
The late speaker, representing Zuru Constituency travelled to Egypt few days ago for unspecified illness.
The late Speaker was a prominent political figure in Zuru emirate, served as the Speaker of the Kebbi State 10th Assembly. His death is a significant loss to his constituents, the state’s legislative body, the political community, as well as the state and the country in general.

Further details regarding his burial arrangements and official condolences are expected to be announced by the Kebbi State Government and his family in due course.
