

It was a moment of excitement and merriment, as the Oliyere of Iyere Kingdom in Owo local government, HRM Oba Omotunde Adako installed Otunba Omoluabi Abubakar Adesina as the Otunba Atoyegbe of Iyere kingdom and his wife, Sherifat, as Yeye Otunba Atoyegbe.

Elated residents of the community rolled out the drums, wined and dined saying they are happy to witness the ceremony.

The installation was held on Friday 12th, 2023 at the Oliyere’s Palace.


Speaking at the installation ceremony, Oba Adako said his council cabinet approved the conferment of the Chieftaincy title on Abubakar, trusting that he will contribute to the development of the community.
He appreciated his Council of Chiefs for unanimously agreeing to install the Otunba Atoyegbe as he promised that he will help in the development of the Community.

He described Abubakar as a good brother and friend whom they graduated together and had been relating well since their school days till now.

Oba Adako appreciated the leadership of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Alumni, the Rector and management team, for their love presence at the Occasion, the monarch appeal to the alumni President for his continuous support for the development of the school.
While appreciating Abubakar for accepting the chieftaincy offer after much pressure on him, he prayed for his tremendous success as the Otunba Atoyegbe of the community.
Speaking in an interview with Ebony Herald, the Otunba Iyere, Chief Adepetan Samuel Folorunso explained that the Atoyegbe title is second in command to the Otunba which is for the citizen of Iyere, while Atoyegbe is an honour conferred a non indigene.

He advised Abubakar to continue with his good work, praying that God will increase his wisdom and always guide him to success.
The Alamulamuko of Iyere, Chief Alara Ugbolero described the Atoyegbe Chieftaincy title as being spiritually empowered for financial improvement as he urged him not do forget the community.

He said Atoyegbe should contribute his quota towards the infrastructural development of the Community and also complement the efforts of the state government.
“The internal street road networks need to be rehabilitated because road construction will bring a lot of development”, he noted.
He also mentioned the importance of establishing a mini campus, police station and bank branches among others for rapid development of the community.
The newly installed Otunba Atoyegbe of Iyere community, Otunba Omoluabi Abubakar Adesina assured on meeting the expectations of the leaders of the community.


Abubakar, said he sees the Chieftaincy title as a way of paying back to the Oliyere whom he appreciated for his selfless efforts in attending their alumni programmes and his contributions whenever he is called upon.
Present at the occasion are Iyere Council of Chiefs, leaderships of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic alumni, friends, family members and supporters of the new Chief.
