Petroleum Minister Calls For A Globally Inclusive Energy Transition Framework

As the world moves towards cleaner energy, the Minister of States for Petroleum Resources ( Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, has called for a globally inclusive energy transition framework that reflects Africa’s unique developmental challenges.

Speaking on Monday in Abuja an exclusive reception dinner, hosted by the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Belgium in Nigeria ahead of this year’s Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES), Lokpobiri emphasized on Africa’s distinct approach to energy transition.

This he said prioritizes combating energy poverty while advancing sustainable development.

At the event which brought together dignitaries and key players in the global energy sector, he said that all plans will make ensures no region is marginalized in the global shift toward cleaner energy sources.

Recognizing the need for accessible energy solutions, the Minister said he invited investors to explore Nigeria’s oil sector, clarifying that Nigeria’s focus is on securing investments, not loans, to drive mutual economic growth.

He said:” I have called for a globally inclusive energy transition framework that reflects Africa’s unique developmental challenges.

” I have emphasized Africa’s distinct approach to energy transition, one that prioritizes combating energy poverty while advancing sustainable development.

I” invited investors to explore Nigeria’s oil sector, clarifying that our focus is on securing investments, not loans, to drive mutual economic growth and ensures no region is marginalized in the global shift toward cleaner energy sources.”
