Investigations reveal that the online group was specifically designed to lure unsuspecting youths into a range of illicit and morally corrupt practices, including:

Witchcraft and ritual activities; the pursuit of demonic powers; Acts of homosexuality; Organised thuggery and violence.

In response, the Sokoto State Police Command has issued a strong advisory to parents and guardians, warning of the growing trend of criminals exploiting digital platforms to recruit vulnerable youths.

The Command urged families to closely monitor their children’s mobile phone usage and social media engagements, maintain open discussions about online dangers, remain alert to sudden behavioural changes, and report suspicious activities promptly to security agencies.

Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Musa (psc), said the arrests followed persistent complaints from residents over the disruptive activities of the cult group.

> “We want to assure the good people of Sokoto that we have been listening to their concerns.

” The arrest of these suspects is a clear demonstration that their calls for action have been answered. Our efforts have disrupted a key cell of this notorious group, and we remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of every citizen,”, CP Musa stated.

The Command said further investigations are ongoing to track down additional members of the Sai Malam syndicate.

It reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property through intelligence-driven policing and sustained community collaboration.
