The Bauchi State Police Command has commenced a discreet investigation into an alleged culpable homicide involving a businessman and his second wife.

The incident occurred on March 1, 2025, around 11:30pm in the Fadamam Mada area, near Government Girls College, Bauchi.

According to preliminary findings, the dispute arose between Alhaji Nuru Isah, a 50-year-old trader at Central Market, Bauchi, and his 24-year-old second wife, Wasila Abdullahi, over the handling of food ingredients and fruits meant for breaking the Ramadan fast.

According to the Bauchi state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the disagreement, however, escalated into violence.

Reports indicate that Alhaji Nuru Isah allegedly struck his wife with a cane, causing her to collapse and lose consciousness within their matrimonial home.

She was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBU-TH), where medical personnel confirmed her death.

In response, the Bauchi State Police Command has arrested the suspect and recovered the cane allegedly used in the assault.

The deceased’s body has been deposited in the mortuary, pending an autopsy.

Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, PSC, has reassured the public of the command’s commitment to ensuring justice is served.

The Bauchi State Police Command has used this tragic event to remind the public of the dangers of domestic violence, stressing that:

“Domestic violence is a grave offence with serious consequences.

“Every individual has the right to live in a safe and secure environment.

A community built on respect, empathy, and understanding can help prevent such incidents.

The command reiterated its dedication to safeguarding lives and property while ensuring that perpetrators of criminal acts are brought to justice.
