RANAO unveils ₦100m Day Care Centre for senior citizens in Akure
The Retired Army, Navy and Air Force Officers (RANAO) Association yesterday rolled out a ₦100 million Adult Day Care Centre at its Akure headquarters as part of activities marking its annual RANAO Day.
The state-of-the-art facility, according to RANAO Deputy Chairman, Col. Foluso Sunday Saka (rtd.), will serve as a safe haven for senior citizens, retired military officers and members of the public, offering health checks, social engagement, and wellness programmes under one roof.
“At our stage in life, we need a place to gather, discuss, exercise, and stay active,” Saka said.
“The centre will have a resident nurse to monitor blood pressure and sugar levels daily, and telemedicine facilities so people can consult medical experts without leaving the premises.
“It’s a life-saving initiative for our community.”
Ondo State Governor, represented by his Senior Special Assistant, Hon. Gbenga Atiba, lauded the association for its contributions to the state, describing the new centre as a milestone that fits perfectly into his administration’s Ease of Living Initiative.
“This project will help our elderly thrive,” Atiba said.
The event also featured a health lecture urging participants to embrace proper diet, avoid over-processed foods, exercise regularly, and adopt backyard gardening to ensure access to fresh produce.
Retired officers, including Pioneer Leaders Rtd. Col. Falayi and the State Chairman Col. Omowa, were in attendance.
The highlight of the celebration was the induction of new members, among them entertainment merchant Hon. Segun Adagunodo, popularly known as Santana, Mr. Olurotimi, and others.
