House of representatives member-elect for Jalingo, Yorro, Zing federal constituency in Taraba State, Ismaila Yushau Maihanchi is dead.
He died in the early hours of Saturday in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
The clerk of the House of Representatives Yahaya Danzaria who confirmed the ugly incident described it as a sad one.
According to the spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Andeta’rang Irammae who also confirmed the report said “Shortly after the election, the member-elect fell sick and has been receiving medical treatment in Abuja.”
Speaking on the incident, the Acting chairman of the party, Abubakar Bawa described the death as a big blow to the PDP family in the state and the country at large.
He noted that Yushau Maihanchi’s
death is a rude shock to his party, he said the deceased will be missed not only by the party but the people of the state at large.
A family source confirmed that the late member-elect took to illness shortly after he was declared winner of the just concluded election.
The family source said the funeral arrangements would be announced later.
Ismaila Yushau Maihanchi contested the National Assembly election on the platform of the PDP, defeated his opponents from the All Progressives Congress, APC, the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP and the Social Democratic Party, SDP, by a wide margin.
