After a thirty five years of meritorious service in various divisions and heirarchy in the Nigeria Police,The Assistant Inspector General Of Police Zone 16 Headquarters,Yenagoa,Bayelsa State AIG Eboka Friday has finally retired,called on serving police men to shun bribery and yield to professionalism.
The retired AIG was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as an Assistant Superintendent Cadet, March 1st, 1988,his retirement was effective March 15, 2023 having completed thirty five years of service as stipulated in the rule of engagement.
Speaking during a send off party in honour of him on 2nd April, at the Banquet hall, Yenagoa Bayelsa State,AIG Eboka Friday called on serving police men to be steadfast in the discharge of their duties and not to monitize decisions.
He said”When you’re taking decisions ensure you’re professional and neutral, don’t be sewage or carried away by anything they will give to you, don’t even get involve in that,it’s only better to do something and forget about whatever that will come, don’t put money before your decisions take your decisions and let them go.
The retired AIG who explained how it has not been easy having scaled through obstacles,however said one need to give thanks to God for successfuly serving the police considering the hazardous nature of the job.
He further advised them to emulate the good part of him and jettison the area they think is bad,saying that his style of relating with the grassroots and their leaders without any discrimination, assisted in making issues less complicated.
Eboka, who was full of happiness said he can proudly say he served his father land well due to his track records hinted that their had never been a time he regretted any action nor decision he took while in service, explained that his decisions were always professionally considered.
“I do not have anything to regret while I was in service. I did everything I did professionally. At every time, I took decisions with utmost sense of professionalism because I did my postings according to the individual’s capacity and experience.
“I sometimes also did my postings in management meetings, where subordinates are consulting and allowed to make contributions.My target at times like that is achievable goals and who will deliver, not about religious nor ethnic background. I try doing the right thing at the right time.”
He appreciated the people of both Rivers and Bayelsa State which make up the zone 16 command for their assistance to him without rancour and also to the police force both at the zonal and state command level.
