Royalty, power, glamour as Tejuosho–Akinbode wedding lights up Lagos

Love, royalty and family bonds took centre stage on December 28, 2025, as the Tejuosho Royal Family of Egba land and the London-based Akinbode family were joined in celebration at the wedding of Princess Olateju Mariam Akinbode and Prince Oluwaseun Israel Tejuosho, a union that drew wide admiration and goodwill.
Princess Olateju Mariam is the daughter of Mr. Akinbode and his wife, Princess Comfort Olubumi Akinbode, while Prince Oluwaseun Israel Tejuosho is a grandson of Oba Tejuosho and son of Senator Olanrewaju Adeyemi Tejuosho.


The elegant wedding ceremony, held at the prestigious Lagos Oriental Hotel, along the Lekki–Epe Expressway, Victoria Island, turned the venue into a convergence point for royalty, political leaders and eminent personalities from across Nigeria.
Traditional rulers from different geopolitical zones and top political elites were in attendance, underscoring the importance of the union.
The marriage was officiated by Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, who, after joining the couple as husband and wife, congratulated them and admonished them to uphold love, understanding and mutual respect.

He counselled the newlyweds never to allow third-party interference in their marriage.
The well-attended ceremony also served as a notable meeting point for prominent Ijesa and Egba elites.
An elaborate reception followed at the hotel’s main auditorium, where guests were lavishly entertained.

The reception was chaired by renowned industrialist, Dr. Chief Oyebamiji Ogunbiyi, and featured fine dining, quality entertainment and a warm atmosphere of celebration.
A long list of dignitaries graced the occasion, including His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Olaoye, the Soun of Ogbomosho; HRM Oba Michael Kehinde Adebowale Taiwo, Onifiye Adimula, Idado-Ijesa; His Highness, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the Emir of Kano; and the Olowu of Owu-Egba, among other traditional rulers.

Also present were political heavyweights such as Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, accompanied by his deputy; former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun; Aremo Segun Osoba, former Governor of Ogun State; Hon. Adeniran Adewumi Akika, former Chairman of Atakunmosa East Local Government Area of Osun State; Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President; and Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora, among many others.
A special royal blessing was pronounced on the couple by Kabiyesi, the Onifiye Adimula, Idado-Ijesa, who prayed for peace, fruitfulness and enduring love in their home.
The Tejuosho–Akinbode wedding was widely described by guests as a perfect blend of royalty, culture and class, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the couple amid pomp, pageantry and goodwill.
