RUGIPO ALUMNI ASSOCIATION ELECTS EXECUTIVES


The Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo Alumni Association has elected new executives to steer its affairs for the next 2 years. The new executives emerged through a delegate election held on Saturday, 26 July 2025, at the Adekunle Ajasin Auditorium of the institution, where 85 delegates from five out of six chapters of the Alumni Association cast their vote.
At the end of the electoral exercise, the eleven elected executives were sworn in and issued certificates of return by the Chairman, RUGIPO Alumni Association Electoral Committee, Comrade Ibikunle Oluwafemi Kunle.
The elected executive members are: Engr. Adeola Victor Adesina – National President, Mr. Bankole Adeyefa – National Vice President, Mr. Ademola Oluyode – National Secretary, Mrs. Adeola Monisola Omoye, – Assistant General Secretary, Mr. Raymond Adeleye – National Treasurer, Mr. Felix Oniye – National Finance Secretary, Otunba Abubakar Adesina – National Director of Organisation, Mr. Ademola Ebenezer Adekanmi – Chief Whip, Mrs. Jumoke Arowolo – National Auditor I, Mr. Adegboye Yemi Oniye – National Auditor II, and Mr. Samuel Asulewon – National Publicity Secretary.

In his acceptance speech, Engr. Adeola Victor Adesina, the re-elected President, expressed gratitude to members for their overwhelming support and promised to work towards repositioning the association. He called for unity and cooperation among alumni to contribute to the growth and development of their alma mater.
According to him, “it is a new dawn. We will hit the ground running with the speedy completion of the ongoing project and other things we have in the pipeline for the greater good of the Alumni Association. It is now time things must be done accordingly and as expected. A standard will be set and a new guideline that will ensure meaningful contribution of members to the association will be released soon.”
Engr. Adesina congratulated all the executive members elected together with him. He said he looked forward to working with them to achieve greatness for the Alumni Association. He urged the Chairmen of all RUGIPO Alumni Association chapters to initiate projects from the chapter level that will benefit the members of the chapters. He also promised to continue to work in harmony with the Management of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo and the Students Union Government for the progress of the institution.

The newly elected Director of Organisation, Otunba Adesina, hinted that the Polytechnic is about to witness more unprecedented impacts of the Alumni Association. He promised to build bridges between the Alumni, Management, and stakeholders for impactful development.
Meanwhile, High Chief Engr. (Dr.) S. A. Alagha, a former President of the Alumni Association, emphasised the need for the Association to do more than just generate funds from graduating students to make a meaningful impact in the institution’s development. He suggested that the Association should reach out to well-meaning alumni to build a befitting hostel accommodation for students.
Comrade Ibikunle Oluwafemi Kunle urged the elected members to prioritise the interest of the Alumni Association and strive to make it one of the best in Nigeria through valuable projects that have a direct impact on the institution and students.
