Following his plea, the Magistrate, Mr M. Mudashiru, found him guilty and sentenced him to three years’ imprisonment at the Agodi Correctional Facility, noting that the punishment would serve as a deterrent to others.

The court also ordered the convict to pay N4.7 million as restitution to the complainant after completing his jail term.

Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Sikiru Ibrahim, told the court that the offence was committed on February 6 at about 11:00 a.m.

He said the convict conspired with others still at large to maliciously damage an iron safe valued at N100,000 and stole N6.1 million belonging to his employer, Adewunmi Adejobi.

Ibrahim added that the convict fled Ibadan after the incident but was later arrested in his village in Osun State.

He said N450,000 in cash and two mobile phones valued at N910,000 were recovered from him.

The offences contravene Sections 390(9), 451 and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
