Tragedy, as landlord’s son hacks teacher to death in Ondo Community


A tragic incident occurred on Monday in Irele town, headquarters of Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State, where a 27-year-old woman, Bamitale Joy, was reportedly hacked to death by a middle-aged man.

The deceased, a teacher at a private nursery and primary school in the community, was well known among residents.
Her tragic killing has thrown the entire town into confusion and tension.
According to a source close to the police, a minor argument broke out between the late Joy and a 26-year-old man, who is the son of her landlord.

The disagreement, the source said, escalated into a heated altercation during which the suspect allegedly hacked her to death.
The police source added that the suspect, whose name has not been officially released, is currently being detained at the Irele Divisional Police Headquarters, where he is assisting the police with their investigation.
The death of the private school teacher, which came as a shock to many residents, nearly led to a breakdown of law and order in the town, but the situation was brought under control by the police.
A senior police officer at the Irele Divisional Police Station, who preferred not to be named, confirmed the incident.
He said the suspect has been arrested and detained, and would soon be transferred to the Homicide Section of the Ondo State Police Command in Akure for further investigation.
